„Vegetabilien Fotogramme“ was created as a result of the project „Erz. 7139“, for which Irina Ruppert portrayed harvest workers in the Palatinate. For the photograms, she used the rejects she collected in the fields: vegetable leaves that didn't look nice enough for the supermarket. She dried lettuce, rhubarb, parsley, pumpkin and cabbage leaves between newspaper pages and exposed them to analogue photographic paper in the darkroom. The results are unique and individual: not only the silhouette of each vegetable leaf becomes visible, but also its fine structure with the veins and its colourfulness. Natural and artificial at the same time, the „Vegetabilien Fotogramme“ are reflections of our alienation from nature as well as they do homage to its beauty and uniqueness. Damian Zimmermann 2020
